IMA next STORY

I am glad my photo series “Reincarnation” is shortlisted at IMA next STORY. Thank you so much, Tomoko Yoneda -san for selecting my work. I participated in an online portfolio review by Naoko Higashi -san (Editor at the photography magazine IMA and project manager of Tokyo Art Book Fair) as a supplementary prize.

国内のコンペティション、IMA next STORYのショートリストに、80歳を過ぎた両親にとっての終の住処とその周辺風景・大室山の山焼きを輪廻転生と捉えて時々撮り続けているシリーズ「Reincarnation 終の住処」が選出されました。審査員はロンドン拠点の高名な写真家・米田知子さんでした。選評も頂きました。感謝申し上げます。

副賞で、IMA編集部エディタ、Tokyo Art Book Fairプロジェクト・マネージャ東直子さんによるポートフォリオ・レビューをオンラインで受けさせて頂きました。これまでに制作してきた各シリーズのそれぞれのゴールに向けた具体的方向性のアドバイスと、このサイトの構成までご評価頂きました。ありがとうございました。

My photo series “Wintertag” was selected as one of the 12 Winners in FotoFilmic JRNL Issue 11 Winter 2022. I’m honored. Thank you so much, Virginie Lamarche, director at FotoFilmic. She is historian of photography and independent curator based in Oakland, CA. From 2003 to 2021, she served as curator of photography at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMoMA). She is currently adjunct professor in the photography program at California College of the Arts (CCA).

▶︎ URBANAUTICA Institute Awards 2020

2008年に現在パリの美大教授を務められているSteve Bisson氏によって創設されたURBANAUTICA。URBANAUTICAからは2010年頃にGianpaolo Arena氏が独立してLandscape Storiesを創設。そのLandscape Storiesからさらに派生してフランスにVelvet Eyesが創設されるなど、URBANAUTICAはその源流とも僕は捉えているので、今回受賞には至りませんでしたがショートリストに選出されて大変嬉しいです。

UKのフォトコンペティションInternational Photography Grantに、2014年から冬期に継続している「Wintertag」シリーズでエントリーしました。今年8月に提出し、11月3日に通知された結果はランドスケープ部門の「NOMINEE」入選。ウィナーにはなれませんでしたが、エントリーするにあたって、ネガフィルムの再スキャン、構成の見直しやステートメントの校正など、今年3月以降に取り組んできた事前準備が自分にとっては有意義でした。上記写真は主宰International Photography Magazineから発行された証明書です。IPGのコンペティションにはアメリカfeature shootやイタリアURBANAUTICA、イタリアLandscape Storiesなどが協賛、審査員を務められています。準備の整い具合と、また機会があったら挑戦してみたいと思います。
